The Autumn has arrived and it is now time to start those Christmas projects. This is one of my favourite Christmas table runners. I love the Scandi theme fabrics, and how the pattern meanders across the runner like the river after which it has been named. I have been busy converting the booklet patten into a digital download which is now available. With the help from my pattern tester Sue I have updated the daffodils foundation piecing pattern. Sue had never done foundation piecing before and said that she enjoyed learning a new technique. She also spotted a few not so deliberate mistakes for which I am grateful. I couldn’t resist making the daffodils into placemats and have included this as a bonus pattern #daffodils #foundationpaperpiecing #bevmayodesigns #bevmayo #patchwork #placemats #easterdecor Yesterday was the last day of the Folded Fantasy quilt @tudorrosepatchwork It has been 6 months of hard work from my students and the results can be seen in the stunning quilt tops they have made. All quite unique and stunning. It always amazes me how colours and fabrics can change the feel of the design. #patchwork #foldedpatchwork #bevmayodesigns #bevmayo_quilts Sunbonnet Sue samples made into doll cot quilts for Christmas. Teaching patchwork means I have a lot of samples, some more complete than others. There comes a time to destash all these bits and pieces. Robyn had her doll cot quilt a couple of years ago made from an old sample so a new one was needed when I revisited appliqué this year. I hope Alice likes purple. #patchwork #appliqué More fun with fused glass and the kiln gods. This is the walk into Ferry Meadows. In the spring there is cherry blossom and small daffodils. There are silver birch trees but I have added more and some bluebells. So a little artistic liberty. But I am very pleased with how a Spring Walk has turned out. One side is stained glass inspired and the other embroidered. These beautiful tapestries were a joy to see. The planets series have been beautifully restored. If you find yourself in Segovia it is worth seeking them out. I am a textile artist and tutor based in the East Midlands. I taught City & Guilds courses for many years at Tudor Rose Patchwork near Bedford, and at Bee Crafty near Huntingdon. I specialise in patchwork and quilting and love starting beginners on their creative journey. It is wonderful to see quilters grow in confidence and become accomplished designers, and teachers themselves. I had wonderful tutors during my creative journey, Sherry Gosling ( creative embroidery ) and Barbara Weeks ( patchwork & quilting ) along with many who have generously shared their knowledge with me over the years.
