August has been a busy month, and even though we have been in another heat wave I am still in Christmas mode. I was looking through my New York Beauty designs and was inspired to make another Christmas Tree Skirt.
The Ashness tree skirt is named after Ashness bridge which can be found near to Keswick. It is one of the most photographed and distinctive bridges in the Lake District. As Children we would walk to the bridge and then on to Surprise View, where we were treated to a wonderful panorama of Derwentwater and Keswick. It is a small pack horse bridge, the sides being quite low to allow passage of pack horses and mules between Watendlath and Keswick. The traditional stone bridge with its distinctive arch spans a small fast flowing beck, Barrow Beck. Working on this design has brought back many memories of my childhood in the Lake District.
I wonder what memories the next design will evoke. Back to the studio and design board for the next pattern. I have to say I love my job.
I have decided to make this the pattern of the month for September. It is now available from my Etsy shop with 20% off until the end of the month. The pattern is foundation paper piecing arcs. It includes templates and step by step foundation piecing instructions with picture illustrations.
